We have received clarification from Solar Victoria on the terms and application of Victoria’s Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) Subsidy. We have summarized Solar Victoria’s full update below. Dealerships who have applied the subsidy as a discount at point of sale are asked to email Solar Victoria at zevsubsidy@team.solar.vic.gov.au as soon as possible.
How to Apply the subsidy:
- Dealers must not apply the subsidy at point of sale:
Solar Victoria have advised that Dealers must not apply the subsidy at point of sale just yet. Dealers are asked to ensure new customers who purchase an eligible new ZEV follow the instructions on Solar Vitoria’s website to apply for the subsidy.
- Implementation of a point of sale subsidy payment process by end of August:
Solar Victoria continues to work on a subsidy payment process so that the subsidy can be applied at point of sale, which is aimed to be implemented by the end of August.
Additional/updated ZEV Subsidy Eligibility Criteria:
- ZEV Demonstrator Models included:
ZEV demonstrator models on-sold to the customer on or from 2 May 2021 are eligible for the ZEV Subsidy.
- ZEVs funded under leasing arrangements included:
ZEV Subsidy is available for ZEVs purchased under leasing arrangements on or from 2 May 2021.
- ZEVs purchased from interstate Dealers but registered in Victoria:
ZEVs purchased from interstate dealerships are eligible for the subsidy provided the ZEV is registered with VicRoads for use in Victoria. This means that Dealers licensed by VicRoads to register new vehicles in Victoria can sell ZEVs that are eligible for the subsidy.
- 6 Month Extended Delivery Time:
The requirement for ZEVs to be delivered after a customer signs the contract has been extended from 3 to now 6 months.
