In this submission, the AADA responds to the Cleaner Car Consultation paper to highlight that new car Dealers are committed to a cleaner future through reduced light vehicle emissions and support the introduction of a New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) for light vehicles. However, the preferred option put forward by the Government, requiring manufacturers to dramatically reduce their emissions over a very short period of time, goes too far too fast and will have serious implications for consumers on vehicle choice and affordability.
