A workshop on the Takata Airbag recall, presented by Evan Stents and Christian Teese of HWL Ebsworth at the AADA National Dealer Convention 2018 is now available online.
On 28 February 2018, the largest compulsory recall in Australian history was initiated by the ACCC. The Takata Compulsory Recall now affects an estimated 5 million vehicles in Australia, both new and used.
It imposes a significant range of obligations on Manufacturers and Dealers and carries very heavy penalties for contraventions of those obligations, which are now in effect. These obligations are not limited to retail sales, but extend to the entire supply chain – including wholesale trades, auctions, loan cars and even dealership business sales.
Watch Evan Stents and Christian Teese explaining the critical obligations on Dealers in respect of the supply of new, demonstrator and used vehicles, and discussing processes Dealers should be implementing to minimise the risk of contravening those obligations.
