The AADA have recently received warnings about counterfeit car parts arriving in Australia. In February, an investigation by Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) initiative Genuine is Best has revealed that dangerous counterfeit car parts are arriving in Australia, concealed in shipments of parallel and aftermarket vehicle parts. More than one in two (62%) of the parts purchased in a Test Buy Program were found to be counterfeit.
The AADA supports FCAI’s “Genuine is best” initiative which aims to make motorists more aware about genuine parts and why they should be the first choice for fitment. The initiative also features a dedicated website with educational resources on what genuine parts are, why they should be used and how a car can be kept genuine.
As Dealers play an important role in educating consumers, we would encourage you to share this campaign via your social media channels, your website or when speaking to your customers.
