The peak body representing franchised new car dealers welcomed the appointment of Michael McCormack as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport.
The CEO of the AADA David Blackhall expressed the Association’s appreciation for the strong working relationship established with the Nationals under out-going leader Barnaby Joyce and thanked Mr Joyce for his efforts on behalf of franchised new car dealers.
New car dealers play an important role in the transport system by renewing Australia’s fleet of passenger vehicles as well as servicing and repairing a large proportion of the fleet.
Dealerships also employ 60,000 people throughout Australia including in rural and regional areas.
From his time as the Minister for Small Business, the new Deputy Prime Minister has a good understanding of the industry’s contribution and is aware of the many regulatory and commercial challenges facing new car dealers.
The AADA wishes the Deputy Prime Minister well in his role and looks forward to a close working relationship.
