CEO Message No. 75

Hundreds of automotive industry professionals will gather at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre early next month for the AADA’s Convention & Expo. This is our first opportunity to host the event in person since 2019 in Melbourne when the industry was certainly at a different point. Profitability was at record lows, we had a massive over supply of vehicles, and there were 200 Holden Dealers.

Since that last convention so many major developments have arisen including Holden departing Australian shores, Honda and Mercedes-Benz transitioning to agency models, supply chain issues and the COVID-19 pandemic. On the plus side, Dealers are now profitable for the first time in a while, however the fact remains that we’re still undergoing significant industry change and it’s important now, more than ever, to come together and address our challenges collectively.

The theme for this year’s convention is ‘Future Focused’ and the delegates will benefit from an excellent array of speakers who will deliver insights and solutions to many of the issues affecting new car retailers.

There are 7 panel sessions, 56 industry experts and speakers in over 30 intensive sessions who will cover topics such as future automotive policy, emerging trends, zero emission vehicles, people strategy, franchise reform, diversity, digital transformation, business performance, customer service, fixed operations and used cars. All of this is designed to ensure we as an industry are prepared for what the next decade might bring.

On the eve of the convention, we will be holding the AADA Chairman’s Dinner and for the first time we have invited every Dealer Principal in Australia to this event, as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the industry and to come together before the Convention & Expo officially gets underway.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2022 AADA Convention and Expo in Brisbane on 2-3 June 2022.
